Our Client, a growing medium size company in the construction industry is urgently seeking for a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Accountant to oversee, supervise and manage general accounting responsibilities. • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor • Experience Level: Mid level • Experience Length: 4 years
Job Description KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: • Budgets preparation and implementation • Statutory obligations & compliance • Preparation of financial statements and reporting • Formulation and review of financial policies & procedures KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Overall Management and co-ordination of the Finance Function. 2. Preparation and monitoring of the business’s annual budgets and ensure all expenses are within assigned budget. 3. Supervision of data entry to the sage accounting system for each project undertaken. 4. Ensure full compliance with tax requirements as well as with requisite accounting principles. 5. Provide comprehensive accounting and business level reporting for ongoing and completed projects along key account metrics. 6. Administration of monthly payroll and remittance of all statutory and other deductions to authorized bodies within the required timelines. 7. Review and implementation of financial policies and procedures. 8. Preparation and reconciliation of bank statements and accounts on a regular basis. 9. Preparation of financial statements; cash flow, ledgers, Profit & Loss, balance sheet, debtors and creditors statements. 10. Responsible for preparation of corporate accounts for audit purposes and filing of all statutory returns. 11. Oversee receivables and payables, including reconciliation of the same. 12. Conduct spot checks on stores and assets.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • A degree in Commerce – (Accounting option) or its equivalent. • Must be a holder of CPA-K. • Must be a member of ICPAK. • 4 years’ experience in a medium organization. Experience in the Construction industry will be an added advantage. • Computer literate especially in accounting software applications preferably Sage.
